2019 TAB Melbourne Cup trainer information

Congratulations on being drawn to contest the heats of the TAB Melbourne Cup, the world’s greatest greyhound race!

The TAB Melbourne Cup is greyhound racing’s flagship event. It is an opportunity to showcase the very best our sport has to offer to both new and existing fans, and for those

For those fortunate enough to progress to the final, we want the experience of Cup week to be a memorable one. Understanding the desire to minimise disruption to both you and your greyhounds while maximising the promotion of the race and sport, we encourage you to note the following events and ask to plan accordingly.

The heats

We encourage those intending to dine in the grandstand to book ahead.

The box draw

This year’s TAB Melbourne Cup box draw will be conducted live on The Thrill Of The Chase from 10am on Sunday 24 November. We ask that the trainers of each TAB Melbourne Cup finalist make the effort to be there for the box draw (owners are also welcome to come along) . Given the draw will be conducted on free to air television, we ask that all connections to come in semi formal attire (ie collared shirt and jeans for men – strictly no shorts, singlets or thongs).

Following the show, we will record interviews with all connections for use through the week.

TAB Melbourne Cup lunch

The Melbourne Cup lunch will again be held at Crown Casino on Thursday 28 November and we would love for all finalists to attend.

TAB Melbourne Cup night

Connections of greyhounds in the TAB Melbourne Cup final are allocated four complimentary tickets to the dining room, and have an allocation of four additional spots at normal price. Dining is at a premium on that night, please contact the club as early as possible with your dinning needs. When making your booking, please ensure there is one contact person per finalist.

The Cup night programme

For those that don’t advance to the TAB Melbourne Cup final, the following advertised events will also be run on Cup night:

$35,500 group 3 Cup Night Sprint (515m) – $25,000 to the winner

$35,500 group 3 Sir John Dillon (595m) – $25,000 to the winner

Graded races on the night will also carry a minimum of $10,000 in prize money ($7000 to the winner)

Again, congratulations on being drawn in the TAB Melbourne Cup heats. If you have any questions leading into Friday night, please contact Mick Floyd on 0409 426 562.
